APEIROGON is a powerful novel about two men on the opposing sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict who each lose a daughter to the sectarian violence around them, but eventually come together and use their grief to try and break the conflict open. McCann actually based the men on the real life figures of Rami Elhanan, an Israeli, and Bassan Aramin, a Palestinian, who he met while in the Middle East with his organization Narrative 4, which uses storytelling to build empathy in young people around the world.
