BROTHER & SISTER is a memoir dedicated to exploring the divergent paths Diane Keaton and her brother Randy took in life. Growing up, they were best friends throughout their idyllic 1950s suburban California childhood, but as they grew older they began to forge different lives: Diane, of course, became a celebrated actress, while Randy slipped into drug abuse and mental illness. Keaton, through remembrances, photographs, and even some of Randy's poetry and art, digs for the answer to the question of why she succeeded and why her brother ended up living on, in her words, "the other side of normal."
