SUGAR RUN tells the story of a woman sent to prison for murder at 17, released 18 years later, and her struggle to create a new life in the rugged mountains of Appalachia with her newfound love, a single mother of four children living in a single motel room.

MESHA MAREN (pictured below from our Wall of Fame) has had stories published in Tin House, The Oxford American, and many others. In addition to her many literary awards, she is an Assistant Professor of the Practice of Creative Writing at Duke University and also serves as a National Endowment of the Arts Writing Fellow at the federal prison camp in Alderson, West Virginia.
